Nick Pics

Here are some pics of our good friend Nick Hobgood. Nick is landlocked in Sudan at the moment and we can only hope these make him feel just a little bit closer to the sea.

Seahorse

This dwarf seahorse (~3cm) was hanging out in 7 meters of water today at Tasi Tolu. Otherwise, it seems that many of the seahorses that have been in the area have either moved on or, perhaps, into deeper water for the season.

Back to the Basics

Phyllidia ocellata are perhaps the most ubiquitous nudibranchs in Timor. They are so common they are often overlooked or ignored, at least by UWET, in the search for more elusive nudis. For more detail on this species and links to other Phyllidia, check out the Sea Slug Forum's factsheet.

Whiskered Pipefishes

Although conditions at Dili Rock were a bit rough, Lendell and I found these two Whiskered Pipefishes at about 18 meters. The pipefishes may seem obvious in these photos, but without the aid of strobes, their colors and shapes blend in perfectly with the surrounding algae.
