Glossodoris cruenta

According to the Sea Slug Forum, this is Glossodoris cruenta. Like Platydoris cruenta its name comes from a Latin word for 'bloody' or 'spotted with blood'. There have been a couple sightings of G. cruenta in the Solomon Islands over the last few years. Dili Rock. 27M

Pygmy Seahorse

This Pygmy Seahorse was found at 24 Meters at Batu Niti, a dive site just a few minutes by boat from Seraya Resort.

This goby has a parasitic worm attached. I tried to explain that I could remove the parasite, but the goby just wouldn't listen and zipped into his hole.

This Emporer Shrimp seemed to be luminescent. I think that it is a reflection of my strobe by the white plates near the shrimp's tail.

From the Archives. We have had a low pressure system just south of Timor for the past 10 days. Hopefully, it's starting to clear and we will see good dive conditions this weekend.

We caught this pipehorse swimming from one branch to another.

Diane spotted this allied cowry along with shrimp, brittle stars, and the crab in the photo below all on the same soft coral.

Sunday Afternoon at Sandy Bottom

A very strange find at Sandy Bottom. This Periclimenes imperator shrimp (15mm) was hanging out on the ridge of the anus of an otherwise buried sea cucumber.

Stiliger aureomarginatus, a sacoglossan sea slug which feeds on species of Codium. See Nick Hobgoods submission to the Sea Slug Forum way back in 2003.

Allied Cowry (13mm)

This Nembrotha purpureolineolata (4cm) has it's oral tentacle inside a tunicate.

This may be one of the largest animals ever posted on this site, but I couldn't resist the beautiful color pattern on this clam.

This scruffy frogfish was attracting prey with its squiggly lure. It snatched up the animal in front of it and then quickly spit it back out. Apparently didn't taste too good.

This frogfish was about 8mm.
